Peter Mandilli Kamong

Peter Mandilli Kamong is a veteran aviation specialist with over 30 years of industry experience. A retired Air Traffic Controller, he holds all professional ATC ratings, including Senior Tower, Area/Approach, and Senior Check Controller.

Mr. Kamong brings deep institutional knowledge to the Board, having served on the first and second Boards of the CAA in 2000. His leadership background includes serving as the Acting CEO for the PNG Accident Investigation Authority and as the Manager of the Jacksons ATC Centre. He also spent 12 years as the PNG President for the Local Air Traffic Control Union. With an international perspective on aviation safety and economics, Mr. Kamong has completed specialized training at the Singapore Aviation Academy-Radar Control, the University of Westminster (UK)- Air Transport Economics and Planning Introduction, and in Tokyo, Japan-Future Air Navigations Technology. He has also contributed to regional safety as a member of the CAPSCA Asia/Pacific Steering Committee. Mr. Kamong provides the Board with a unique combination of technical  mastery, regulatory oversight, and accident investigation expertise, ensuring CASAPNG remains aligned with both local safety needs and international aviation standards.
